A Message to Our Friends and Colleagues

September 2020

Almost a decade ago, Irwin Zahn, our father and life-long entrepreneur, established Moxie Foundation with a vision to address the big challenges of our time with verve, courage, and determination…with moxie. We awarded more than $30 million in grants to game-changing organizations and institutions advancing opportunities in education, medical research, poverty, food systems and climate change.

As the COVID pandemic began to shape and sharpen our philanthropic decisions earlier this year, we joined many in re-evaluating and re-prioritizing for greater impact. While our family’s commitment to social change remains steadfast, we have sunset Moxie in order to approach our grantmaking directly. We are in the process of establishing individual foundations to focus where we can each be most effective.

We look forward to continuing this journey with so many of our longstanding partners, all taking bold steps to build a better world.
